Easy Orange Fluff Salad
I love Fluff Salad Recipes, especially during the summer when I need something light, refreshing, and easy to prep ahead of time. This Orange Jello Fluff checks all the boxes. It’s quick, and it doesn’t heat up the kitchen. The combination of citrusy Jello and sweet mandarin oranges makes it a go-to for warm weather get-togethers.
These creamy dessert salads have become a staple at our house. I keep a rotation of favorites like this one, my Cherry Fluff, and Banana Pudding Fluff because they’re so easy to make and everyone loves them. I can mix everything in one bowl, pop it in the fridge, and it’s ready whenever I need it.

Ingredients
- Mandarin oranges – Add sweet citrus flavor.
- Orange Jello – Gives orange flavor and helps the salad set.
- Boiling water – Dissolves the Jello mix.
- Instant vanilla pudding – Adds a creamy vanilla flavor and thickens the salad.
- Whipped topping (Cool Whip) – Makes the mixture light and creamy.
- Mini marshmallows – Add soft texture and sweetness.

How to Make the Orange Fluff Dessert
- Dissolve the Jello – In a large bowl, stir the orange Jello into the boiling water until fully dissolved.
- Add reserved juice – Stir in ½ cup of the reserved mandarin orange juice and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Mix in pudding – Add the dry vanilla pudding mix and whisk until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Fold in whipped topping – Gently fold in the Cool Whip until fully combined and creamy.
- Add fruit and marshmallows – Stir in the mandarin oranges and mini marshmallows until evenly distributed.
- Chill – Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the salad to set.

Variations and Substitutions
- Use homemade whipped cream – Substitute with homemade whipped cream if preferred. I typically don’t recommend homemade whipped cream as a swap for Cool Whip since it isn’t stabilized. However, in this recipe, the Jello and pudding mix provide enough structure for it to work.
- Use pineapple – Swap one can of mandarin oranges for a (20-ounce) can of crushed pineapple (well-drained) for a tropical twist.
- Add coconut – Mix in 1 cup of sweetened shredded coconut for extra texture and sweetness.
- Make it sugar-free – Use sugar-free Jello, pudding, and light whipped topping for a lower-sugar option.

Tips for Success
- Chill the oranges ahead of time – If time permits, place the cans of mandarin oranges in the fridge the night before. The cold juice helps cool the Jello mixture faster, speeding up prep.
- Cool the Jello mixture slightly – Let the Jello and juice mixture cool a bit before adding pudding to avoid clumping.
- Drain fruit well – Excess liquid from the oranges can water down the salad, so drain thoroughly.
- Chill long enough – Refrigerate for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld and the salad to set correctly.
- Fold gently – When combining whipped topping and fruit, fold gently to keep the texture light and fluffy.

Orange Fluff Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 (15-ounce) cans mandarin oranges drained, and ½ cup juice reserved
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 (3-ounce) box orange Jello dry mix only
- 1 (3.4-ounce) box instant vanilla pudding dry mix only
- 1 (8-ounce) tub whipped topping thawed (Cool Whip)
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the orange Jello in the boiling water.
- Stir in ½ cup of the reserved mandarin orange juice and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Whisk in the dry vanilla pudding mix until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until fully combined.
- Add the drained mandarin oranges and mini marshmallows, and stir until evenly mixed.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- Use ½ cup cold water if you forget to reserve the mandarin juice.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir gently before serving if any separation occurs.
- Freezing is not recommended. Freezing will alter the texture and cause the whipped topping and pudding to break down, so it’s best enjoyed fresh from the fridge.
