Easy Oreo Mint Truffles

I’ve made hundreds of cookie-based truffles over the years, and Oreos are still one of my favorite cookies to use. They blend smoothly with cream cheese and hold their shape so well once dipped. My classic Oreo Balls are always a hit, but I also love switching up the flavor with these mint balls or my Lemon Oreo Truffles when I want something a little different.

What I really love about Mint Oreo Truffles is how elegant they look. Once they’re dipped and set, they look like something you’d pick up from a candy shop. They package up beautifully for gifts, especially around the holidays. I also use this cost-effective dipping set which makes coating the truffles so much easier and keeps everything neat.

Ingredients

  • Mint Oreos – Crushed to form the base of the truffle mixture.
  • Brick-style cream cheese – Mixed with the cookies to bind and form a smooth filling.
  • Almond bark – Melted and used for coating the truffles.
  • Green candy melts (optional) – Melted for drizzling on top for decoration.

How to Make Chocolate Mint Oreo Truffles

  1. Prep – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Crush the Oreos – Add the Mint Oreos to a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs form. No large pieces should remain.
  3. Mix the Filling – In a large bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Mix until fully blended and smooth.

  1. Form the Balls – Scoop the mixture and roll into evenly sized balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Chill – Freeze the truffle balls for at least 30 minutes, or until firm.
  3. Melt the Coating – Melt the almond bark according to package directions until smooth.
  4. Dip the Truffles – Using a fork or dipping tool, coat each chilled truffle in the melted almond bark. Tap off excess coating and return to the lined baking sheet.

  1. Decorate (Optional) – Melt the green candy melts and drizzle over the dipped truffles.
  2. Set – Let the coating fully harden at room temperature or refrigerate briefly until set.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Use different Oreo flavors – Swap Mint Oreos for classic Oreos, Golden Oreos, or seasonal flavors to change the taste while keeping the same method.
  • Try chocolate chips instead of almond bark – Melted semi-sweet or dark chocolate works well for coating. Add a small amount of neutral oil if needed for smoother dipping.
  • Add peppermint extract – If you want a stronger mint flavor, mix a small drop of peppermint extract into the filling. Start small to avoid overpowering the cookies.
  • Skip the drizzle – Leave the tops plain for a simple look, or sprinkle crushed Oreos on top before the coating sets.

Tips for Success

  • Use brick-style cream cheese – Spreadable cream cheese can make the mixture too soft and difficult to roll.
  • Crush the Oreos finely – Large chunks will make the truffles lumpy and harder to dip smoothly.
  • Chill before dipping – Cold truffles hold their shape better and won’t fall apart in the melted coating.
  • Dip in small batches – Keep most of the truffles in the freezer while you work so they stay firm.
  • Tap off excess coating – Gently tap the fork on the bowl’s edge to prevent thick bottoms from forming.
