These Grinch Truffles are a fun little twist on classic Oreo balls, made with Golden Oreos, green candy melts, and a tiny red heart on top. They’re no-bake, super cute, and one of my favorite things to gift during the holidays.

Easy Grinch Oreo Balls
I love making cookie truffles during the holidays, especially the no-bake kind. They always look so fancy and taste amazing, which is exactly what I want in a holiday treat. These Grinch Oreo Balls are one of my favorites to make and give. I usually include them with my Gingerbread Truffles and Bailey’s Truffles, and they’re always the ones people talk about the most.
The Grinch has kind of become my go-to theme this time of year. It’s simple to pull off with some green and a red heart, and everyone knows exactly what it is. These truffles are fun to make and just as easy as my Grinch Crinkle Cookies. People always love them, especially on cookie trays or packed up as little gifts.

Ingredients
- Golden Oreos – Crushed to form the base of the truffle mixture.
- Cream cheese – Binds the crushed cookies into a dough.
- Light green candy melts – Used to coat the truffles.
- Vegetable shortening – Helps thin the candy melts for dipping.
- Red heart sprinkles – Added on top for the Grinch theme.

Making the Christmas Truffles
- Prep the workspace – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- Crush and mix – Pulse the Golden Oreos in a food processor until finely crushed. Transfer to a mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, and mix with an electric mixer until smooth and fully combined.

- Shape and freeze – Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Melt the candy coating – Add the green candy melts and shortening to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals at 50% power, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Dip and decorate – Use a fork to dip each truffle into the melted coating, letting the excess drip off. Place back on the baking sheet. Drizzle the leftover candy melts over the truffles and immediately add a red heart sprinkle to the top of each truffle.
- Chill to set – Refrigerate the truffles for about 30 minutes, or until the coating is firm.

Variations and Substitutions
- Use different Oreos – Swap Golden Oreos for classic chocolate Oreos for a richer flavor and darker base.
- Color the truffle mix – Add a few drops of red food coloring to the Oreo mixture for a fun contrast inside.
- Skip the drizzle – If you prefer a cleaner look, just dip and decorate with the red heart sprinkle.
- Add flavor – Mix in a drop of mint or almond extract for a subtle twist.

Tips for Success
- Use regular Golden Oreos – Stick with the standard kind and keep the filling in. No need to scrape it out, and avoid Thins or Double Stuf.
- Let the cream cheese soften – Room temperature cream cheese blends more easily and gives a smoother texture.
- Freeze before dipping – A quick freeze helps the truffles stay firm so they don’t fall apart in the coating.
- Add shortening to the coating – It thins the candy melts just enough to make dipping easier and the finish smoother.
- Work in small batches – Keep some truffles in the freezer while you dip the others so they don’t soften too quickly.
- Add the heart while the coating is wet – Press the sprinkle on right after dipping so it sticks firmly as the coating sets.

No Bake Grinch Truffles
Ingredients
- 1 (13.29 ounce) package of Golden Oreos 33 cookies (not Thins or Double Stuffed)
- 8 ounces brick-style cream cheese softened (1 block)
- 3 cups light green candy melts about 1 pound
- 2 teaspoons vegetable shortening
- 30 red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Pulse the Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor.
- Add the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese to a large bowl. Beat the crushed cookies and cream cheese with an electric mixer until the cream cheese is evenly distributed throughout the cookies and the mixture is smooth.
- Roll 1 tablespoon scoops of the mixture into balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Freeze for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
- Add the candy melts and shortening to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 20-second increments at 50% power until smooth.
- Use a fork to dip the frozen truffle balls in the candy melts one at a time. Return the dipped truffles to the baking tray.
- Once the truffles have been dipped, add the leftover candy melts to a small piping bag with a small tip. Drizzle the leftover candy melts over the truffles and immediately add a heart sprinkle to the top of each.
- Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes or until the candy coating is set.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- The truffles can be frozen for up to three months. Place a piece of parchment paper between the layers before freezing to prevent them from sticking together. Thaw the truffles in the refrigerator before enjoying them.
